About the role
120 Enterprise System Engineer (P9) RESOURCES AND OPERATIONS │ ICT and Computer Services Bloemfontein Campus Main purpose of the job To design, implement, secure, and optimize enterprise server and cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance of core systems that support institutional operations and digital transformation initiatives. Main tasks Monitor and optimize server and cloud environments Provide infrastructure support Manage and automate backup, recovery and data protection processes to ensure business continuity and compliance Implement and enforce ICT security measures to safeguard systems, data and networks against evolving threats Nature of appointment: Permanent Support Services Minimum salary scale (Total Cost to Company): R 641 532 per annum (2026 salary scales to be confirmed) Note: CUT applies an internal parity model to determine remuneration that complies with the principle of “equal pay for work of equal value”. Accordingly, the preferred candidate may expect an offer that is in line with their qualifications and years of similar experience. Requirements
- National Diploma in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering, or related field (NQF Level 6) or equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA.
- Three (3) years’ experience in enterprise server, virtualisation, or cloud infrastructure environments.
- Certifications: Operating systems, server platforms, and or virtualisation platforms, Microsoft Windows Server Administration certificate, Windows Azure Administration certificate, Microsoft Hyper – V Administration, or VMWare Data Centre Virtualization certificate
- Knowledge of common server hardware architecture, including servers (CPU, bus, memory), SANS, disk arrays, and network hardware.
- Understanding of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), including processes, files, memory management, and I/O systems; distributed information systems, including 2 and 3-tier designs, and Hyperconverged Infrastructure
- Knowledge of web-based systems, Networking services, and protocols
