Eskom is inviting qualified candidates to apply for two (2) Permanent Technician Chemical positions within its Research, Testing & Development (RT&D) division. This opportunity is ideal for Analytical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering graduates with practical laboratory experience who want to build a career with one of South Africa's leading energy utilities. Position Details * **Position:** Technician Chemical (x2) * **Company:** Eskom * **Job Type:** Permanent * **Task Grade:** T11 * **Department:** STSER – Research, Testing & Development (RT&D) * **Closing Date:** **24 July 2026** Available Locations Successful candidates may be placed at any of the following locations: * Johannesburg * Polokwane * Witbank * Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) * Klerksdorp * Bloemfontein * Cape Town * Pietermaritzburg Job Purpose The Technician Chemical will apply knowledge of chemistry, laboratory instrumentation, and statistical analysis to solve chemical science problems and assist engineers in diagnosing faults related to plant applications. The successful candidate will also contribute to laboratory operations, safety, quality assurance, and cost-effective service delivery. Minimum Requirements Applicants must have: * National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (NQF Level 6 – 240 Credits) * Practical Training (P1 and P2) * Relevant laboratory experience Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will: * Plan, organise, and perform laboratory analyses. * Assist engineers with chemical investigations and plant-related diagnostics. * Contribute to laboratory quality, health, safety, and environmental compliance. * Ensure cost-effective laboratory operations. * Assist laboratory supervisors with daily activities. * Follow Eskom procedures and relevant laboratory standards. * Support accurate sampling and analysis of oil, water, and other laboratory media. Knowledge and Skills Required Successful applicants should have knowledge of: * Analytical Chemistry * Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) * ISO 17025 Quality Management Systems * ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety * ISO 14001 Environmental Management * Laboratory procedures and legislation * Oil and water chemistry analysis * Eskom policies and procedures * Basic laboratory management Applicants should also demonstrate: * Computer literacy * Problem-solving ability * Customer service skills * Good communication and presentation skills * Ability to work independently and within a team * Professionalism, integrity, and accountability Closing Date:24 July 2026 Note:If you have not been contacted within 28 days after the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
